Smart materials for conformable electronics and photonics
Thin, wearable, cheap, stretchable electronics and photonics will open up a world of new applications such as biomedical applications like on-the-skin-phototherapy, safety and textile design. The technology needed to realise these conformable systems demand for a platform comprising textile, foil, stretchable substrate technologies and its integration. The European FP7 project PLACE-it is a consortium of partners developing this platform. TNO / Holst Centre is developing organic electronics by Roll to Roll foil technology w. In this lecture the technology development and the possible applications areas for conformable electronics and photonics will be addressed.
